Are Entrepreneurs Who “Work” More Than 80 Hours a Week Complete Bullshit?

Over the weekend, Reddit user SwimSquirrel posted a great question to r/entrepreneur on how entrepreneurs utilized their time. Out of a curiosity for those in the subReddit community claiming to work more than 80 hours per week pursuing their business owner dreams, he/she wanted to learn more about what they actually spend their time on and how they manage to remain so productive. And, it seems (at least according to the responses) that those entrepreneurs who claim to work more than 80 hours a week are likely complete bullshit and are just terrible at managing their time and productivity.

Currently the most upvoted response on Reddit. (Reddit)

Right now, the most upvoted response comes from Reddit user Redditcycle, who pretty much describes the day of someone who’s unemployed rather than someone who’s trying to get their business off the ground. While a fair point could be made claiming that not necessarily everyone involved in r/entrepreneur is, well, an entrepreneur (and thereby resonates closely with the opinion shared above), there are many similar responses. It seems that, for the majority of those active in the r/entrepreneur subReddit community, the issue they find with entrepreneurs claiming to work more than 80 hours per week on their businesses simply aren’t optimizing their productivity or just completely bullshitting themselves about the work they’re actually putting in.

One of the best responses to the Reddit thread comes from user senjutsuka:

A great response from someone who seems to have extensive entrepreneur experience. (Reddit)

Even if you do happen to be one of the few entrepreneurs who does actually put in that many hours of work per week, is it really worth it? The human body can only last a certain point before it falls to the stresses of life. Often, we talk about work-life balance and how important it is to make sure that we have that in our lives, but very few of us are actually making sure that we have it.

If you are an entrepreneur and want to make the most with the time that you have, consider some of these tips on how entrepreneurs can boost their productivity.
