Facebook to Launch a "Gmail Killer" This Monday

If the rumors are true, it will be interesting to see how many people adopted Facebook as there new mail client. This could be a huge hit to Gmail, which has become one of the most popular email clients on the Web.

Rumors of a Facebook e-mail client, known internally as Project Titan or the “Gmail killer,” have been circulating the blogosphere since February, but according to TechCrunch, the announcement will finally come during a special event Monday at Facebook headquarters.

An e-mail service from Facebook would likely pose a serious challenge to established providers such as Google and Yahoo!, thanks to Facebook’s emphasis on re-creating users’ offline social networks for the Web.
