Miami-Dade commissioners have voted this week to approve car-sharing services from apps like Uber and Lyft. After months (actually years for Uber) of ongoing fight with taxi services and the city, the services are now permanently legal. Drivers were previously facing a $2,000 fine for operating illegally.
With Tuesday’s vote, commissioners gave their initial approval to change the law, making it legal for anyone to drive for both companies.
