Do you like to clip coupons? Even when handed to me on a silver platter, I always seem to forget coupons at home. You might not need to worry about that anymore as Peekaboo Mobile offers a free iPhone application that provides coupons, discounts and promotions directly to your phone based on your current location. Similar to the local deals offered up on Foursquare, Peekaboo Mobile enables small businesses to attract potential customers into their brick and mortar locations. Coupons can be shared to Facebook, Twitter or via SMS. Coupon deals can also be rated, thus giving the local deal provider customer feedback.Aside from just offering coupons, Peekaboo also opens their system to its users to contribute details about local deals that they have encountered. This could get really interesting if people stay on the honors system and only contribute real deals. But either way, there are many coupon sites on the Web that operate similarly which validates this feature as keeper. It might be interesting to offer some incentives to the users who contribute solid coupon advice to community as the biggest challenge will be gaining critical mass in this area. A little game theory may not be a bad idea.
Peekaboo was create by the 25 years old duo of Suffolk University grads, Ben Dolgoff and Mike Fruzzetti. This is their fourth company they have worked on together.
Come out and meet the Peekaboo Mobile team as they will be demoing as a showcased startup at the upcoming TECH cocktail Boston startup mixer at the Microsoft NERD Center this Thursday. How’s that for a local deal?
