Think there’s nothing happening in Detroit?  Think again!  The startup scene in Detroit is about to get a big boost with the one-day competition Funded by Night, when startups from around the world will compete to win a $100,000 convertible note from two local venture capital firms, Detroit Venture Partners and Ludlow Ventures.

“Funded by Night was created to help promote Detroit as an emerging hub of innovation & technology,” said, Jeff Epstein, co-founder of Funded by Night.

We want to serve as a catalyst to build a ‘startup ecosystem’ that is vital to any technology hub and prevalent high technology hubs such as Silicon Valley, and Boulder, Colorado.

The competition will be held on the afternoon of April 28, when 25 selected companies will demo their products to potential investors.  The winner will be presented with the $100,000 investment the same evening. During the demo, the startups will have an opportunity to schedule 1-on-1 meetings with investors the following day.

Funded by Night is part of a two-day FutureMidwest conference that is taking place on April 28 and 29 at the Eastern Market district in Detroit. The application deadline is April 15, so if you’re interested, apply soon.
