It’s long been the goal for Denver-based Galvanize to create on-ramps for anyone with ambition and aptitude to have access to technical skill and entrepreneurship. They believe in making education and growth accessible to anybody, especially underrepresented groups in the tech industry.

To that end they’ve provided a home to an eclectic mix of entrepreneurs, programmers, data scientists, and women and men who want to make an impact. In total they’ve built five campuses, enlisted over 1,000 members, and produced over 200 graduates.

And then, today, they announced that Stephanie Donner, chief legal counsel for Colorado Governor Hickenlooper, will be joining their ranks as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary come July.

“In her five years with my administration, Stephanie Donner has been far more than an invaluable legal mind, she has taken on several roles, including Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief Legal Counsel,” says Governor Hickenlooper. “Time and time again, she has presented innovative solutions to improve the lives of Coloradans. It makes perfect sense that she has joined a company like Galvanize.”

Donner will be working in Denver out of the Platte and Golden Triangle campuses in her new role where she’ll also be responsible for all of Galvanize’s legal needs.

“The reason that Colorado has been cited as such a hotbed for tech startup activity by the likes of Forbes Magazine and the Kauffman Foundation, among many others, is because of companies like Galvanize, which educates and fosters innovative entrepreneurs. Colorado is lucky to have Galvanize and they are lucky to have Stephanie,” says Hickenlooper.

Her leadership will also be instrumental in helping Galvanize change education, an industry that’s historically been heavily regulated. As the executive team says, major changes are coming in the next few years as more tech workers seek new programs to learn new skills. Companies will also look to immersive programs like Galvanize to build their technical teams.

“This is a major milestone for us, as Stephanie adds significant legal experience and business acumen as we scale operations globally,” says the team. “Adding Stephanie’s expertise to our leadership team will guide us as we expand to more campuses, add more education offerings, and join important new initiatives, such as NESTA.”
