With Derrick Rose leaving Chicago, the Windy City is reminded of a similar issue that plagues their startup and tech communities: talent leaving for greener pastures. Tech companies and budding startups alike have experienced an unusual number of qualified people leaving for bigger tech hubs. And while the city is rife with lavish homes, beautiful scenery, and more landmarks than you can shake a stick at, Chicago tech talent has waned in recent years. Fortunately, one event is looking to inject some life back into the talent pool by throwing a benefit concert that will make you jump into Lake Michigan with excitement.
Chicago Tech Rocks is coming to the Second City at the end of August and you won’t want to miss it. This benefit concert will show off some of Chicago’s best bands, along with an international garage band headliner that is going to knock your socks off.
Perhaps most importantly, the proceeds from the concert will go to supporting six non-profit organizations that are committed to the Chicago tech and startup communities. They provide technology education and STEM-based programs to underserved populations in Chicago that will help the community acquire the talent it needs to continue to grow.
