Everything is on-demand today, so why not create on-demand advertising as well? “At events, or in big cities, you can hire a street team that will pass out flyers, or you can hire somebody like us that mobilizes human digital billboards,” explains Rich Winley of Gnomad.
The Gnomad team mobilized a massive army of those human digital billboards, in addition to devices that were mounted in pedicabs and in on-demand cars for hire to get the word out about various events in Austin during SXSW. The result of this beta test, Winley notes, was at least one sold-out happy hour within ten minutes. Tech Cocktail amplified the news about our events on many channels, and had over 14,000 RSVPs before even landing in Austin, but adding these roving “flyers” to the street team kept our events top-of-mind while they were out on the sidewalk. “It’s based on geo-fencing, time, and location,” explains Winley. And the platform for advertisers is very simple to get the ads going for their special event.
