Google has been all the buzz as it just launched a new social service that is basically a new lifestreaming product called Google Buzz. Google Buzz enables users to share photos, status updates, videos and more right from your GMail. It also has a mobile component at buzz.google.com that enables users to leverage location information to find out what is happening nearby, post a message tagged with your location, and follow your friends while on the go. Google Buzz has offerings for Google Android, Blackberry and the iPhone. On the Android and iPhone users can add a Buzz Layer on Google Maps for mobile among other things.
Additionally, Google is looking to roll out APIs within the coming months. According to the FAQ:
“Our plans involve full/read write support for updates with the Atom Publishing Protocol, rich activity notification with Activity Streams, delegated authorization with OAuth, federated comments and activities with Salmon, distributed profile and contact information with WebFinger, and much, much more. We invite developers to join us in these conversations on the Buzz API Group.”
So look for more news coming soon on Google Buzz for Mobile and beyond as Google makes a move in the real-time social and geo-location space.
