Worried about what may be happening at home or in the office when you’re not there?  Try out GotoCamera, a startup that provides mobile and Web-based video monitoring.

GotoCamera’s service allows non-technical people to use off-the-shelf webcams to easily and affordably monitor their homes while on vacation; kids who are under the care of a nanny; pets who are home alone all day; elderly friends and relatives who live alone, and offices and small businesses.

It is easy to set up and use, and it’s affordable.  Their basic service plan is free, while their top service plan costs less than a latte per month.   All you need is a webcam (a USB webcam or the one integrated into your computer) and a Windows PC (XP and above), and you’re ready to go. You can set up recording schedules, configure motion detection, share your camera with friends and family, and access it from any browser, including most mobile phone browsers.
