Grow Movement is a UK-based charity with a straight-forward cause – providing relevant business coaching from seasoned professionals to aspiring entrepreneurs in Rwanda, Uganda, and Malawi. By leveraging the power of Voice over the Internet (VoIP) technologies such as Skype, volunteer consultants who are proven and qualified can be based anywhere around the world. They are subsequently matched with a business owner to offer training and guidance.

The charity has just joined efforts with MBJ Integrated Technologies to fully develop its online platform and improve operations management as well as the volunteer experience. MBJ has developed an online system giving Grow Movement staff access to tools that help streamline processes related to applications, project management, and impact assessment.

Upon finding a suitable match, the entrepreneurs and volunteer consultants begin working together and maintain contact via Skype or telephone for twelve sessions for a three to six month period. Volunteer consultants can use the platform to schedule sessions with their entrepreneurs, keep meeting notes, set tasks for the entrepreneur and reach out for assistance.

Another section currently in development is an online community that connects Volunteer Consultants in similar projects based on industry, coaching needs, and location. This reveals untapped potential for synergies and creates networking opportunities.

Grow Movement was established in 2009 by Chris Coghlan, a London Business School alumnus highly impacted by his travels to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Mozambique. Grow Movement’s team currently manages more than 600 projects in Africa.

MBJ Integrated Technologies is an end-to-end web and app development agency based in London that will be managing and executing Grow Movement’s project management platform. The advancements on the platform are predicted to significantly increase Grow Movement’s reach and the overall impact of the organization’s cause.
