HotPads, the map-based real estate search engine, has launched their iPad app.  Now it’s even easier to find your new home, whether you are looking to buy or rent a house, apartment, condo, or vacation home.  They also list foreclosures and hotels.

Their iPad app, which is available as a free download from iTunes, offers great features like navigating a map while browsing property details all on one screen, marking and saving search results as favorites, and inquiring about properties right from you iPad.

We believe that HotPads greatly benefits from the additional features available in modern tablets – most notably the screen size. Unlike a smartphone, tablets unlock the key usability feature of being able to view a listing and the search results at the same time, allowing users to quickly and efficiently browse through listings. Much like the desktop browser version of HotPads, users don’t have to leave the map search to view a listing – the listing appears on one side of the screen without interrupting the search, saving the user time and offering a much smoother experience.   – Keith Sanders, Lead Mobile Software Engineer at HotPads

Overall, since launching their first Android App in January 2010, HotPads has seen impressive growth in their mobile user base. Since April 2010, they’ve seen more than 350% growth and the pace is picking up daily. Also from the HotPads team,

We’re really excited about the possibilities of combining location information with housing data and serving it up on the go. There is a lot of we can do in this space and our plans are pretty ambitious. In the coming months users can expect a steady stream of updates and releases for our phone and tablet apps.

HotPads is a sponsor of our upcoming San Francisco event on May 26th, so check them out today, along with their other apps: an iPhone app, Android app, and HotPads for other smartphones.
