Currently Imgur is the fastest-growing image sharing community on the internet, and today they announced the hiring of Steve Patrizi as the VP of Market Development. Patrizi will be responsible for the management and growth of all facets of the ad business including sales, creative services, marketing, ad products, and business development.
“Imgur has become one of the most highly engaged communities on the internet, one that is hugely influential in shaping and driving internet culture,” says Patrizi. “There’s a huge opportunity here for marketers to connect with the people sharing and exploring the web’s best visual content.”
Previous to Imgur, Patrizi was responsible for building the native ad solutions for LinkedIn and Pinterest. This is a strategic hire from Imgur in an effort to streamline advertising strategies, maximize ad revenues, and build for a massive 2015 ad push.
“Steve has a huge amount of experience with community driven products that are a part of people’s daily lives,” says Alan Schaaf, CEO of Imgur. “I’m incredibly excited to have him on the team, and advertisers will be too.”
Imgur launched in 2009 as a simple image sharing service, but since then the community curated gallery has become one of the most heavily trafficked destinations on the internet. To date they’ve secured $40 million from Andreessen Horowitz, and they plan to continue investment in key areas as they move forward with Patrizi in their deck.
