Information Security Analyst
Information Security Analyst is the third most in-demand tech job going for startups in 2017. Jobs for this position are expected to rise 18% through 2024, with an average annual salary of $90,120 in 2016. Our computers, servers, and devices store more of our sensitive data than ever before, another trend which is only growing. It’s especially important for startups to keep their data safe and secure, as any mistakes in this regard are likely to be felt even more with more limited resources.
The most crucial component of your team shouldn’t be overlooked – as it’s the Software Engineer who builds products, custom software for intracompany purposes and much more. It doesn’t matter if your product is high-tech or not, even starting front-end developers, are in high demand. This is a position that’s expected to grow in need by 17 percent by the year 2024. On average, a software engineer earns around $100,690 annually.
These guys are indispensable in the world of big data. This is the fifth on the list of most in-demand positions that startups are looking for in 2017. Startups, like larger companies, need to know where their customers are coming from, how their leads are generated and what their conversion rates are – this is just for starters too. A good data scientist will help your business to understand itself more broadly, gleaning insights and knowledge from data in various forms. This is a position that’s growing in importance for 2017 and beyond. In 2016 the average salary for this position was $128,240, and by 2024 the demand for data scientists is expected to rise by 16 percent.
The final position on this list of six biggest needs in tech for startups in 2017 is for IT Admins – these are the IT professionals who manage the day-to-day computer and network needs that exist in every company. Even with certain trends, such as renting equipment and higher dependency on cloud computer, positions will remain available for those who help keep the network and computer lights on. The average annual salary for an IT Admin in 2016 was $77,810, and demand for this position is expected to grow by 8 percent through 2024.
IT is an evolving field, and not all startups need to hire equally. It seems clear that if you’re an IT professional in 2017, you’re going to be just as in-demand as 2016, and the prospects only look better from there. It’s estimated that by 2024 there will be around 488,500 new tech jobs created. Whether you’re in data analysis or security, web development, engineering or administration – there is a growing need that’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
