Looking for the best person to teach or tutor you in a new task or guide you through a new process? If so, you might want to check out Betterfly. Betterfly is a New York based startup that looks to connect people who want to learn something new, look or feel better with people who can help. Betterfly has a number of teachers, coaches, tutors, stylists, trainers and more listed on the site and offers relevant tools for them to manage appointments and services.

Betterfly was founded by Joshua Schwadron and is backed by a $500,000 round of funding by Chicago-based Lightbank, the investors behind Groupon, Where I’ve Been and Sprout Social, among others. Joshua runs the day-to-day operations team at Betterfly while product development is done oversees.

In diving into Betterfly, you realize right away the site is all about matching people with other people whom they call “Betterists”. Betterists on the site offer anything from guitar lessons to woodcarving. In searching for a Betterist you can refine a search with more than 20 factors such as availability, friends’ recommendations, verified reviews and value. I liked how easy it was to find a Betterist. But I would love to see more people using the site to improve the number and quality of solid results for any category.

Check out this video tour of Betterfly (below) and come out to meet the team behind Betterfly as they are a featured startup and will be demoing in an expo-style on Friday, November 19th at Tech Cocktail NYC. Site Tour from Betterfly on Vimeo.
