Hang With (Hang w/) has a history of getting mainstream celebrity endorsements; last year at SXSW they sponsored a 50 Cent concert that was live-broadcast to their users. Recently they announced that Academy Award winner, and major heartthrob, Jared Leto has officially joined the Board of Advisors for the company.
The Hang w/ app broadcasts live streams across five platforms simultaneously, sharing within the app, on Facebook, on Twitter, to hangwith.com, and to a web widget that can be integrated into a website or blog. It’s also available for both iOS and Android.
“I believe we are entering a golden age in technology,” says Leto. “Creative minds are harnessing what’s possible to take human relationships to the next level. Hang w/ weaves together some of the most powerful technological elements – including mobility, social media and live streaming – into one platform. I plan to shine a spotlight on this exciting new tech to help it spread across the planet.”
An actor, musician, filmmaker, entrepreneur, activist, and philanthropist, Jared Leto earned the 2014 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his critically acclaimed performance in Dallas Buyers Club. Equally known as lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and songwriter for the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, Leto has launched a string of successful ventures in technology and social media.
“Jared gets it,” says Andrew Maltin, CEO of MEDL and Hang w/. “He knows the power of social media and live streaming first-hand, and he’s been on the forefront as both as an artist and a businessman. He understands today’s generation of content creators and we look forward to working closely with Jared to make Hang w/ a creative medium and the dominant live social video platform”.
