Technology is affecting how we live and work today by making it better and more efficient. At least that is the idea. SmartThings cofounder and CTO Jeff Hagins believes that we are at a point where we are asking the right questions as to how to make it more efficient, especially when it comes to the Internet of Things and home automation devices.
And this shouldn’t come at the expense of a person’s privacy either.
“The consumer is a bit handicapped because they don’t have a way to know whether the right things are happening in the security perspective,” explained Hagins. “We are living in a world where companies are very thoughtful about security and take it really quite seriously. But there are startups that can’t afford to spend money on it.”
It turns out that security is not free. So solutions are probably going to come from larger companies because they have the resources to make sure they taking the right steps to protect customer’s privacy.
