JK Rowling Will Publish New Harry Potter Stories on Pottermore for Christmas

In case the Halloween special on Dolores Umbridge wasn’t enough for you, JK Rowling made the announcement this past weekend that new Harry Potter stories will be published on her Pottermore website every day until in the run up to Christmas. That’s right: multiple stories, with 12 short stories overall.

According to the post, Rowling will publish a new short story from the Harry Potter storyline every day at 1 PM GMT (that’s 8 AM EST for us in the United States) starting Friday, December 12 and ending Tuesday, December 23. Similar to the six short stories released on Halloween, which featured tales tied to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the stories to be released this Christmas season will be connected to another book in the Harry Potter series: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Much like the Halloween release, these new stories are expected to be discovered by Harry Potter fans through interaction on Pottermore; the stories published in October required readers to uncover them by revisiting settings from the Order of the Phoenix. I recently finished rereading the Half-Blood Prince, which makes things très convenient for me – I’ll make sure to share with you how to access those stories once they come out.

Here are some deleted scenes from the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie to help put you in the mood (skip to 3:32 for the best part – seriously):
