Having a band can be tough. There is so much to keep track of, like rehearsals, recording times, gigs, promotion, and finances. It can be hard to keep track of everything through e-mail, and things can fall through the cracks in the shuffle of endless replies. BandCentral makes managing your band simpler by allowing you to organize all of these tasks in one place.

BandCentral looks and feels very much like the project management tool Basecamp, but it’s just for bands.  There is a calendar for keeping track of rehearsals, gigs, and recording sessions.  There is also e-mail and SMS integration, which is helpful for reminding band members about important dates.  The calendar can even be synced with iCal and Google Calendar.  A message board allows band members to stay in the loop with what’s going on, so there’s no need for endless e-mails back and forth. BandCentral allows tasks – and deadlines – to be assigned to individual band members, with  SMS or e-mail reminders.

An extremely powerful feature of BandCentral is its social network integration. All the major networks are supported, including Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace. You can use BandCentral’s BandHUB to update your status message for all those networks at once.  But what’s more, you can create Facebook events and publish gig info to your Facebook fan page and Myspace calendar all at once.  This is a real time saver and makes it so much easier to promote your band, publicize upcoming gigs, and engage with your fans. Another feature bands will find handy is the band finances section, where they can keep track of the money coming in and going out and split costs and revenue among band members.

BandCentral is free to sign up,  but some of the advanced features,  like the finance manager and social network integration, are only available with the pro account, which is $8 a month.
