Lisa Fetterman on Kickstarter, Raising Capital & Couplepreneurs – Interview

While only some people are good at cooking, almost everyone is good at eating. And because there are few things more uplifting than a high quality meal, going out to restaurants is a time honored tradition for foodies around the world, mostly because they have the equipment they need to really impressive patrons with all kinds of pallets. But what if you could create restaurant quality meals at home? Thanks to Lisa Fetterman, and her company Nomiku, you can.

Nomiku is a clip-on appliance that turns any pot in your home into a temperature controlled water bath that allows you to experiment with sous vide cooking. With hopes of building their own, more affordable sous vide appliance, Lisa Fetterman and husband/cofounder Abe launched the company in 2012 after two incredibly successful Kickstarter campaigns totaling more than $1.3 million which got them the traction they needed to make an impact.

“It’s a numbers game, just keep going, eventually someone will say yes,” said Lisa in an interview with Tech.Co.

Tech.Co’s own Tishin Donkersley caught up with Lisa at SXSW to talk about how Nomiku came to be, what it’s like having a husband for a cofounder, and the future of food.

Austin has a city motto of “Keep Austin Weird.” In that spirit, we asked Lisa about how she keeps it weird and authentic and in doing so stays true to herself.
