Chris Pirillo started LockerGnome back in 1996, when “blog” wasn’t even in the dictionary. “There was no course. No pattern,” he says. He just saw his viewers keep growing and commenting, and he knew he was onto something.

Pirillo is the subject of the first video in T-Mobile’s “Life without Limits” campaign. His job, educating a community of people online about technology, science, and geekery, must have confused a lot of people back in the ’90s. But he did it anyway. “You don’t have to follow someone else’s path. You just have to follow your own,” he says.

His path has led him to a community of thousands, and a job as a tech expert at CNN. In the inspiring video below – which has only the tiniest bit of marketing for T-Mobile’s 4G plan with unlimited data – you can see Pirillo’s self-made lifestyle.

Life Without Limits is a contest, too. Post a photo of your life without limits on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook with #LifeWithoutLimits and @TMobile and you could win a Samsung Galaxy S III.
