It was only a week ago that Local Motors announced the five finalists for their Ben Kennedy NASCAR Helmet Design Challenge, and since then Ben Kennedy and his NASCAR team have been busy trying to settle on one design. Well my friends, the time has officially come: Kennedy and his team have chosen.

In a blog post that he wrote to the Local Motors community, Kennedy thanked all of the participants before revealing that Croatia’s Serdo Miletic had beat out the other entrants.

Coming in a very close second and third place were Andre Costa (pictured first) with his Kennedy11 design and Vasilatos Ianis (pictured second) for his HELL design:

Not only does Miletic get the honor of the win, he also gets a pretty sweet prize package. In total he’ll get $1,111, a replica helmet signed by Kennedy, autographed hats, and his decal and signature on the No. 11 Local Motors Toyota Tundra truck. Kennedy and his team announced the winner live at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, where he’ll be wearing the new helmet for his race.
