Group deal sites have been all the rage as sites like GroupOn, LivingSocial, BloomSpot, Jetsetter, Gilte Group and the newly launched Poshbrood all look to address different deal lover habits. We were excited to find out that the team that brought us DealRadar, a Tech Cocktail Chicago featured startup alum, has launched its full-fledged product called Local Offer Network (LON). We have known for some time that LON was in the works as founders Dan Hess and Jorge Zapata previewed some its underlying technology as part of the DealRadar product. DealRadar was one of the first local deal a day aggregator networks we saw pop up. But that’s not all this startup had up it’s sleeve as they have been iterating from day one.
In a rather stealth manner, they rolled out local deals on Metromix.com powered by “Local Offer Network” (LON). LON created an entire new “deals channel” for Metromix.com which is now live at chicago.metromix.com/deals in all of their 57 markets. From the homepage of any Metromix.com city, just click on the “deals” tab in the upper right corner.
We were thrilled to have the DealRadar team, now called Local Offer Network, on hand as a showcased startup at last night’s Tech Cocktail Chicago Fall mixer event. GeoClip.it another featured startup at the event is powered by Local Offer Network’s APIs. So it’s great to see LON already adding value to other startups as they seem to be growing fast. So fast, that they are currently looking to hire additional Ruby on Rails developers among other roles.
