If you’ve ever lost your mobile phone, you know how painful it is to lose important data, from contact information you hadn’t downloaded to your CMS yet to photos from your last vacation. LA-based startup TekTrak Mobile Security has your back. Their technology allows you to locate lost or misplaced phones and secure and private or sensitive data stored on the device
TekTrak’s smartphone app (currently available for the iPhone only) allows you to track a phone in real-time, pinpoint the location to within a few feet, and remotely ring, lock, send messages, and wipe the data from the phone. The lock and wipe features allow the user to secure the phone until found, or completely wipe the data if retrieval seems unlikely.
Their app cleverly uses the assisted GPS hardware that is already within smartphones; you only have to log on to the website to receive the location of your phone.
Founders Arik Waldman, CEO, and Luka Sklizovic, COO, started TekTrak after losing mobile devices a few too many times. Arik has been involved in the high-tech scene for a while; as an employee of Israel’s largest consulting firm, he helped usher startups from seed stage to successful IPOs. Luka is an experienced entrepreneur who started and ran, Imobilia LLC before joining Arik to launch TekTrak.
As one of our showcased startups at TechCocktail Los Angeles tonight, you’ll have a chance to meet the TekTrak team and see a demo of their app.
