I don’t have to say that the legal cannabis market is on fire anymore because you all know, whether from reading my content or just paying attention to the news. However, it can be difficult for everyday people to capitalize on the burgeoning market like Peter Thiel can; what a lot of people might not know is that they can tap into marijuana stocks.
“Just because you don’t have piles of money doesn’t mean you can’t be a savvy investor,” says Marijuana Investment and Private Retreat (MIPR) organizer Khadijah Adams. “But because there are risks it’s imperative that investors be able to spot viable opportunities that allow them to invest without fear.”
The upcoming MIPR offers an “Adding Marijuana to Your Investment Portfolio” conference which teaches investors how to avoid falling for the fraudulent stocks and scams in the industry. According to Alan Brochstein, a certified cannabis financial analyst and founder of 420 Investor, investors have to be wary of companies that don’t exist.
“Most marijuana-related stocks are traded ‘Over-the-Counter’ and many of them don’t file with the Securities Exchange Commission [SEC],” explains Brochstein. “Both the SEC and the FIRA have issued warnings regarding the universe of marijuana-related stocks as being particularly prone to potential fraud. Even those companies that file with the SEC have red flags that include complex capital structures, non-viable business plans, and a lack of industry experience, and leadership.”
Starting on March 27, the retreat will go for two days at Denver’s Capitol Hill Mansion; the MIPR will be hosted at Advanced Cannabis Solutions on March 28 as part of the retreat. Brochstein will be in attendance as a keynote speaker alongside Tripp Keber, founder of Dixie Elixirs; Wanda James, President of Cannabis Global Initiative; and Christie Lunsford, a marijuana consultant and cannabis industry veteran.
For a very long time people have been saying that the way to catalyze the growth of this industry is through money. It goes without saying, then, how important it is to get everyday consumers investing and getting healthy ROIs.
