Andre Lessa has worked for several different Pittsburgh-based companies like Deloitte Consulting, Transportopia, ModCloth, Lockerz, Vivisimo, and American Eagle Outfitters. Over the course of his employment history, he has racked up 20 years of experience as a team lead, project manager, software engineer, and CTO.
It was no surprise, then, when he decided to jump into the ring and take a swing at founding a company of his own. He built Meaningfy off of his insight and experiences to answer a simple, but in his eyes necessary, question: what if you had a virtual analyst in the cloud?
“With about 20 percent of a market research analyst’s time spent on routine web searches, gathering content and determining which is worth further exploration, there is a market need for tools that automate that process,” says Lessa.
Thus Meaningfy was constructed as a digital watchdog for busy professionals to monitor markets and provide updates about pertinent trades, insights, and news. Users create their own dashboard and enter the criteria they want to track, like news, RSS Feeds, web pages, and companies; Meaningfy goes out and finds the latest news and web data for them automatically.
Focusing the core of the platform around a dashboard accomplishes a few things for Lessa and his team. Users can collaborate more efficiently by commenting on posts, liking or disliking posts, and sharing knowledge across social media channels.
Any team member connected to the shared dashboard can also add anything of relevance manually to facilitate a project, research effort, or interest. And throughout the whole process, the team has kept small business owners in mind.
Meaningfy was optimized to give them more time acting on insight and focusing on their day-to-day operations instead of breaking their backs to discover information about their industry competitors. The major added benefit to this is that they also don’t have to hire and pay a group of employees to head up the initiative; Meaningfy takes care of it all.
Meaningfy was featured at Tech Cocktail’s Pittsburgh Mixer & Startup Showcase on October 11th.
