Tech.Co’s Startup of the Year Competition & Tour is going strong. So far we’ve hosted live events and competitions in multiple cities, and will be visiting more cities in the next months! On July 30th we will be making our appearance in Miami, sponsored by WeWork and Ford. WeWork will be opening their brand new Lincoln Road location, and we will help them christen it! All winners will be invited to pitch during Tech.Co’s annual Celebrate conference, taking place October 4th-6th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Miami has always been known as a vibrant city for a lot of reasons. Recently, its thriving tech and startup scene has been added to the list of reasons. In 2015 the Kauffman Index ranked Miami as the city with the 2nd highest amount of startup activity in the country (only behind Austin). The rankings looked at things like number of entrepreneurs and density of startups in different cities. The data showed Miami as having a startup density of 247.6 per 100,000 people. Not too shabby.

A report put out earlier this year by New York-based SmartAsset, featured on NBC, has named Miami as an up and coming tech hub thanks to its low cost of living, home of several major corporations, and place where notable tech acquisitions are being made. Miami is also home to several accelerators including Venture Hive, Healthbox, and Watsco Ventures.

Miami Startups: Apply to Pitch

Are you a startup looking to be part of the action? Apply to showcase at the Miami Startup of the Year Competition & Mixer. The winning startup of the night will also win an opportunity to join us at this year’s Tech.Co Celebrate Conference in Downtown Las Vegas from October 4 to October 6.

Win Big at Tech.Co Celebrate Conference 2015

At this year’s Tech.Co Celebrate Conference, winners of our regional competitions will get the opportunity to pitch their ideas at our global pitch competition and win the coveted title of Tech.Co Startup of the Year.

But there’s a lot more to win than just the title. All competitors at the global Startup of the Year competition will get the opportunity to be accepted into a top, U.S.-based accelerator. Techstars, one of the top U.S.-based accelerators, has reserved a guaranteed “fast track” in the Techstars application process, including an interview with one of their Managing Directors. CEA offers a prize package of exhibit space and ten free passes to the 2016 International CES show along with travel and accommodations in Las Vegas, Nevada for the show. They are looking for the best ‘consumer electronics’ startup to award this prize. More prizes to be announced.

Apply Now and Make Your Way to Celebrate 2015

There are two ways a startup can qualify for the Tech.Co Celebrate 2015 global competition via our events:

  1. Reader’s Choice Poll: Tech.Co readers will have a chance to vote for their favorite regional startup, determined by an online poll. The poll will be live until 5PM EST the day of the event.
  2. Pitch Competition: Startups showcasing at the mixer and startup showcase will get to pitch for 60 seconds. Then, Tech Cocktail attendees will have a chance to vote for their favorite regional startups after all the 60-second pitches are complete.

Consider this the official siren song for Miami startups. Apply now and keep in mind that the application deadline is July 14th!
