Miami Dade Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez gets in with the millennial voters by hosting a Q&A on Twitter to talk about his Proposed Fiscal Year County Budget. Mayor Gimenez has been active in bringing more technology to the city, including supporting Uber in their battle with the county, as well as participating in some of the local technology conferences.

Miami-Dade has been lagging when it comes to open data and implementation of technology in sectors like transportation, and Code For Miami has been working in improving how the government uses the web.

Some of the major issues discussed during the Q&A were transportation and police layoffs.

We hope to see more government officials engaging with voters using social media platforms like Twitter, but we also hope to see more voters taking this opportunity to participate and become more civically active.
