FLOTUS Pushes Students to Study STEM in New College Humor Video

This video of Michelle Obama rapping about the importance of pursuing higher education – with a particular focus on STEM – is the perfect way to end your Friday. In the video recently released by College Humor, you can watch the First Lady of the United States rapping alongside Jay Pharaoh from Saturday Night Live.

It’s no new discovery that the state of STEM education in the United States is deplorable. Despite our standing as one of the “leading” Western nations, we somehow find ourselves in situations where we arrest young people for doing what they can to explore their interests in STEM. To be fair, though, the Obama administration has done what it can to further pathways into STEM and to expand opportunities in science and tech innovation. The effort by FLOTUS is an attempt to further accelerate improvements in STEM, but more-so to get more students to pursue higher education.

While the rap video with Michelle Obama is hilarious (and certainly true: you should go to college), it’s important to remember that your STEM degree may not be worth as much as you think it does (spoiler: it depends on what you study).
