Mirror.co Combines Online Dating with Social Discovery; Interview with Founder Daniel Mattio [Video]

The lines between social discovery and online dating were already blurry.  Finding someone nearby who shares your enthusiasm for the new Muse album, who knows your college roommate, and who also enjoys pumpkin spice lattes, is grounds for a conversation.  With a host of mobile apps going after the social discovery space, including Highlight, Banjo, and Glancee (just to name a few), none has taken a explicit approach with dating in mind.

Mirror does.  The premise is pretty simple: users create a short profile (using their real name), what they’re looking for, and answer a few questions to provide a window into their personality.  With only a rough sketch of the user’s true qualities, the remainder of his/her profile is mirrored by endorsements from friends, family, co-workers, etc.

Tech Cocktail caught up with Daniel Mattio, Mirror’s founder and CEO to learn more about his service, the world of social discovery, why Mirror uses a .co domain, and his top advice to entrepreneurs.  Watch the full video below.
