Moboom, a San Francisco-based web technology company, has released a new website builder for small business, called SiteKit. SiteKit is the first platform to offer a fully-featured website without limits or a monthly fee. In a space where most platforms provide very limited options on free sites, SiteKit introduces a new model based on the idea that small business should only pay for things that they decide are valuable. SiteKit is integrated with the Moboom Market, an App Store-like marketplace of free and premium templates, stock photos, and integrations.
SiteKit looks to challenge the existing names in this space, such as Wix. Weebly, and Squarespace, saying “it costs these companies next to nothing to host websites, and they are charging small business for things that don’t have value.” Moboom also offers a more advanced product for web developers, called DevKit, which is also “truly free, forever”.
“Serving up HTML, CSS, and the website infrastructure itself won’t get you more traffic or more customers. So why should you pay for it?” Asks Moboom co-founder and COO Jef Rice. “We want to empower small businesses to invest in the truly valuable aspects of a website: the content. You should choose what’s valuable to your website, whether it’s great photography, a professional development service, or a premium template that a designer offers in our marketplace.”
According to Rice, “There’s no catch or fine print. SiteKit is unlimited and free, forever. Our job is to find ways to bring you value through the Moboom Market, which we believe is better way to do business.”
SiteKit supports its users with blog posts and a community both on their site and their Facebook page to help educate and guide small business owners through the process of not only building a website, but also optimizing the sales funnel for their audience. Tips and tricks on Google Analytics and Mailchimp are offered to fans and customers of the product, showing that Moboom is serious about providing real support to entrepreneurs who want to promote their businesses on the web.
