It’s Valentine’s Day and what better day for MODwedding (MODwedding.com), a wedding resource for the modern couple, to enter a friends and family beta test. MODwedding, as it’s name suggests, is a wedding resource for people who already manage and share their personal and professional lives online. The service will allow those couples to have a customized wedding Web site that also allows them to plan and track RSVPs, guest lists and registries online; as well as send photos, reminders, invitations and updates through email, social networks and tweets.
While there are many wedding resources online, MODwedding.com is the first to offer all of these capabilities in once place – and having seen some of the designs, they’ve approached the site with elegance while also embracing wedding etiquette and tradition. The site allows couples to manage, plan and share from virtually anywhere and utilizes the social Web to create open communication between the hosts and their guests.
Some of the key features that will be included in MODwedding are:
- MODwedding Dashboard: A customizable dashboard full of planning tools and information including the MODwedding Website Designer, new wedding Diary updates, events, RSVPs, guest comments, new messages, reminders and data on everything from status updates to tweets.
- Personalized Web Site: A personalized wedding Web site that reflects the couple’s style and wedding theme. MODwedding’s site templates make it easy to add a personal story or message, provide information on wedding-related events, update photo galleries, and share updates.
- Diary Integration with Social Networks: Wedding updates, information and planning details can be shared with guests via existing social networks and contact lists via the MODwedding Diary feature. Couples can communicate via Facebook, Twitter and other social networks directly through the site. Guests can also sign-in to the bride and groom’s MODwedding site using their current email or social network logins.
The founders, a young couple with a background in design and interactive development, realized there was a significant gap in the wedding planning process. Their goal was to design a site that would help them be better guests and improve the planning, sharing and archiving process for the bride and groom.
MODwedding will offer a free version of the service, in addition to premium service tiers that include additional features, storage and customized domains. The site will launch later this spring. If you’re planning a wedding, sign up for the MODwedding invitation list for a chance to receive a MODticket for the friends and family beta test. MODwedding’s offices are located in McLean, VA.
