Brazil’s Movile Invests $2M in Mobile Ticketing Startup CinePapaya

Brazil’s answer to Rocket Internet, Movile, announced that is has invested US $2M Peruvian-based startup, CinePapaya.  The Wayra graduate is a mobile movie ticketing company that has expanded to Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Ecuador and Miami. They offer users searching and buying tickets, with additional features that allow users to find films based on their daily calendar.

It was reported that the company will use the funds to expand to new markets, hire new staff, and increase product innovation as part of the Movile network of companies.

“We’re building a comprehensive suite of apps that will encompass key consumer verticals.” said Fabricio Bloisi, Movile’s founder and CEO in a recent interview. “It’s exciting to be building the next generation of apps that will define how millions of Latin Americans get the goods and services they want through their phone.”

Movile recently raise $55M in August and has invested in Brazilian startup Apontador, a review and search startup.
