Tech.Co was overly excited to welcome Tech Cocktail’s first year at the Memphis, TN’s BBQ Fest, a four-day event filled with, well, I’m sure you guessed it: BBQ. Set along the Mississippi River, last week’s event brought together 250 cooking teams, a great amount of BBQ, and some technology; this year, startup incubator Start-Q added tech into the mix, with Tech Cocktail holding our very own Memphis Tech Cocktail Mixer & Startup Showcase.
Our fearless Tech Cocktail ambassador, Mara Lewis, helped coordinate a two-day event. On day 1, 21 startups selected by the Tech.Co team were invited for a “Speed Pitch” competition where each company had 60 seconds to pitch their business to Tech.Co partners and sponsors. On day 2, we brought our traditional mixer and startup showcase to a tent – a first in this history of Tech Cocktail – where startups got to mingle with attendees, potential investors, and other companies, as well as to showcase their ideas prior to the pitch competition in front of a large audience.
The Memphis Tech Cocktail Mixer & Startup Showcase resulted in three winners (with two startups winning our pitch competition). For winning, all three startups have qualified to compete in Las Vegas for our national conference, Celebrate 2015.
