Is Small Business Blogging Always the Best Way to Go?

As soon as you start a new business or embark on the content strategy journey, your focus stays on producing high quality content. You post as many as good blog topics as fast as you can and keep talking about it on social media, only to realize that it is not going anywhere. You realize that not many people are reading about it, and your SEO isn’t exactly spiking high, either. Even if it does, it is too slow a process. Any SEO expert would agree that it will take about 4-6 months for you to get any traction. But what if you want to be heard tomorrow? Let me give you a brilliant tip on that one. It will not only help your SEO, but people will be reading–and enjoying–your blog, too.

DON’T SET UP YOUR OWN BLOG YET

Alright, I know you put a lot of effort into setting up that WordPress blog, looking for a theme and getting the wheels rolling. If you have not done that yet, you would be glad to know that, actually, you don’t want to do that at all. First, you will have to make your blog famous enough to get traction. Unless you are a famous person already, no one is going to listen to what you have to say right off the bat. What if you had a magic “wall” that would guarantee that people would read your blog?

IS THERE A MAGIC WALL?

You are going to love this. There is not one, but many such magic walls. What — you don’t believe me? Alright let me show you where they are. You are on one such wall already. Yes, Tech Cocktail is one of those magic walls already. They have a lot of traffic, and whenever you put up something here, people will read and comment. All you need to do is identify 5 more tech.co of the world and you have 5 more magic walls.

DOES IT HELP SEO?

Of course it does. Much more than you would imagine. In any blogging platform that allows you to guest blog, they generously give you a brief bio section, where you can link the keywords back to your website. This is real SEO, a great backlink already built right in. So what’s in it for the magic wall guys? These blogging platforms get free, high quality content, while you get the benefit of being known. It’s a pure win-win situation.

HOW TO IDENTIFY THE MAGIC WALLS

Identify the right walls in your industry. One way to do that is trace where your potential client’s go often to read. Or which magic wall is geared towards serving your clients.

RULES OF THE GAME

You do not want to sell anything on these walls directly. Start by answering, “What can I write about without selling my product or service directly?” What can you write about for your potential clients that they will find useful? If you identify these topics, your potential clients will be reading about it, and to your surprise, you will start to become the leader in the space immediately.

HOW TO CONTACT THE MAGIC WALL

Most platforms have a link to submit a story or “write for us.” Simply drop them an email using those links and tell them you want to write about your chosen topic for their readers. They will probably ask you to share some of your previous writing, and if their style matches yours, you are all set.

Writing on your own blog can be disheartening if no one is reading it yet. So, I highly recommend you go and write about your area of expertise where readers are waiting to read it. This will get you the traction you need, and you will truly be working the magic of content marketing.

See you soon on the magic wall.
