The words you don’t want to hear during a cycling class flashed before my eyes last week: “nowhere to hide”. My brain went through all sorts of holy *$%! and WHY(!) but my feet kept pedaling because I was in the midst of Equinox’s new The Pursuit by Equinox.
The Pursuit by Equinox is the first-of-its-kind groundbreaking in-studio gaming and data visualization to drive competition and inspire peak performance. A rider races in individual and team challenges trying to achieve specific goals guided by the onscreen graphics.
As I literally set the screen on fire with my animation engulfing in flames or dying out, depending on how hard I worked, I went through three liters of water and pedaled to what felt like infinity and beyond. While a rider feels like they are living a video game they are actually getting a serious workout.
Designed to improve endurance, increase strength, and improve riders’ ability to work harder for longer, precisely timed HIIT intervals maximize performance and optimize caloric expenditure.
As I was dripping in sweat and screaming (like that would help move my legs move faster) I realized what I actually knew all along – I was getting a workout. The beauty of The Pursuit is you become engulfed in the game. You want to pedal faster, produce more power, beat that person next to you.
The Pursuit by Equinox is available in select New York City, Los Angels, Dallas, and Chicago clubs with more rollouts starting Spring 2015.
The last breath- run not walk to The Pursuit by Equinox and burn that fire. (burn baby burn!)
