Have you every had to collect money for a group outing to a ballgame, movie, bowling night or dinner? It can be a hassle to coordinate and collect from the group. I’ve used PayPal for this in the past and it works ok but something about dropping a friend a PayPal invoice seems a little heavy handed. Recently launched Chicago-based startup oBaz looks to help guide people through a seamless group outing experience, where the organizer doesn’t get stuck on the short side of the tab.

oBaz allows users to organize friends and collect money for different things, whether that is planning a birthday party or organizing a trip. You simply set up an event and then determine the price and event details and then send it to the group. oBaz does the rest by helping to manage and collect the details.

The next time you look to organize a group of friends you might want give oBaz a try. It could help you organize and not get stuck paying for everyone. If you do you might want to check out another Chicago-based startup called PiggyBack to keep track of all those debts. I wish both these products existed when I was in college, it would have made things a little easier.
