Yes, smart homes are the future, but should it be so expensive?
Ukrainian startup Branto thinks not. So they developed a smart home hub that works as a wireless assistant device that serves up a wide range of functions including monitoring your home or business with a 360° camera, microphone and speaker; controlling your TV, thermostat, and lights remotely or locally. That’s a lot of functionality for only $399, and it works even if your power or Wi-Fi goes down.
They started a Kickstarter campaign to introduce Branto and are looking to raise $500K to move pass the pre-manufacture phase.
Some of Branto’s key features include: Total control over your TV, home climate control, and other home devices. All that can be managed from your smartphone. Also, it has night vision motion detector and audio speakers. Multiple Brantos can be linked together to get house-wide coverage.
Branto feels like a good option for people thinking of making their home smarter. With so many products out in the market, it can be very confusing. Branto participated in this year’s CES event in Las Vegas and after the Kickstarter campaign plans to raise more funding.
