Like to save the stuff you find online? What about carrying your inspiration and ideas with you when you are decorating your apartment, shopping for the holidays, or planning an event?
Pearltrees, a social bookmarking service and direct competitor to Pinterest, which I covered this summer and which just received $27m in funding from Andreessen Horotwitz, is for you. They are releasing their iPad app today, making the above scenarios possible.
At Pearltrees, you build a webpage that looks like – wait for it! – a tree made of pearls, alone or in a group, massing the fabulous, funny, or just plain freaky digital content you come across while surfing the web.
To get started, just download extensions for Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer; if you use Safari or Opera, you can use a bookmarklet. Of course, you’ll want to share the great stuff you find with your friends, so just connect your account to Twitter or Facebook.
I set up an account and played around a bit. Pretty fun, and, like Pinterest, pretty addicting. Give it a try and let us know what you think with a comment below!
