When you ask a startup what their plan for marketing is, a lot of times you’ll hear that they’re budgeting thousands of dollars to help spread the word about their idea or product. However, we see a lot of startups also go the route of word of mouth, or organic, marketing routines.
For Martina Montana and Alejandro Rascovan, that word of mouth marketing tactic is the single most important thing for a startup. It’s why they founded and built People Spread, a marketplace for social media influencers and marketers ready for hire.
Initially, the two met at USC during their respective masters programs. Both Montana and Rascovan noticed pain points in the industry they had become familiar with in previous startup ventures. Namely, there was an incredibly limited scope of social media marketing influencers to work with if you went through a talent agency.
“Nowadays, if you want to multiply word of mouth you have to get in touch with an agency,” says Montana. “But how can you make sure you’re making the best decision if you’re limiting your selection to an agency’s talent pool?”
People Spread was built to help you find the influencers that will best fit your startup culture without having to deal with an agency. The team’s mentality in this regard has been to move the process forward fast while making it as easy as possible to find the right fit. We were able to sit down with them at Celebrate 2015 in Las Vegas this year to hear more.
