I’ve been writing a lot of articles recently on the emerging marijuana market, and a lot of the entrepreneurs and influencers I’ve spoken with have continuously said the same thing: we need to take this industry to a more professional level. Step one on that path is to eliminate the social stigma attached with marijuana. The question is, how?
Peter Thiel has a possible answer to that question, and it involves his VC firm Founders Fund. Today it was reported from various sources that Founders Fund has made a multi-billion dollar investment in the Bob Marley marijuana brand, Marley Natural.
Don’t be quick to sweep this announcement under the rug though because this is the first investment of its kind in the marijuana industry. Sure, there have been investments in companies like MassRoots, but this is a multi-billion dollar investment.
This is how the social stigma around marijuana is dissipated: get money behind it, big money at that. Once people see a champion like Thiel backing the marijuana industry they’ll be quick to hop on board, and they’ll stand to make a fortune off the burgeoning industry.
I can’t say it enough, if you’re interested in getting into the marijuana industry there’s never been a better time, especially with a powerhouse like Founders Fund backing the success and growth of the industry. And I guarantee you that Marley Natural is only the first of many professional grade brands we’ll see backed as the marijuana market moves away from a black market setup.
