Pollfish, a company with access to over 90 million smartphone users to whom it distributes surveys, recently conducted a massive undertaking: survey America about their car buying intent from around the US. Their methodology uses a river-sampling technique that operates through third party smartphone apps.
Each respondent has been using a smartphone or tablet while they were reading the news in their favorite smartphone app or playing a game. They were presented with a survey, more than 700,000 began the survey, and more than 500,000 completed the survey.
With new car sales reaching an annualized rate of over 17 million vehicles, automotive companies are generating record profitability from their US operations. However, even with these sales, most US manufacturers and suppliers are taking a cautious approach about the future.
