QuizUp Relaunches with New Community Engagement Features

People usually associate Iceland with friendly locals, hot springs, and an unusually common faith in elves, but not often with startups. However, entrepreneurs live everywhere, and Iceland is not an exception.

QuizUp, a social trivia platform out of Reykjavik, has just launched a browser-based tool geared toward user agency. It opens up quiz creation to the global community.

The app launched in 2013 and this is the first substantial relaunch. They have revamped the original app and users can now create their own topics, as niche or specialized as they choose.

“Having users create their own topics in QuizUp is something that we’ve always wanted to be able to do,” says Thor Fridriksson, founder and CEO of QuizUp in a statement. “By opening up QuizUp we are fundamentally changing the content creation process by giving our users the ability to create quizzes and communities about anything, or everything they want. We can’t wait to see what our users will create using our topic creation tools. This is without a doubt the biggest change ever to QuizUp and we think people will love it.”

The new features are meant to provide more interaction and engagement between users and with the app.

New features include:

  • A simple and straightforward interface that offers the creation of a title, tagline, endless questions, and even personalized feeds
  • International appeal, with the ability to create topics in any language
  • Ability to create unique icons to represent topics with a brand new icon builder
  • Users can Share their custom topics, invite friends to play through other platforms, and build a community around their unique interests

  • 7 million games played per day
  • Collectively, QuizUp’s community has hit more than 5 billion matches, 50 billion questions answered and spends an average of 30 minutes per day playing the game.
