Inspired by Metal Slug and the Contra saga, along with some aspects of Jetpack Joyride, Ramboat is a nice game with classic arcade-style shooting action, but in a boat. Now that the holiday is here, the developers, Genera Games, have updated the game with a July 4 theme.

Genera’s Ramboat has already been featured by Apple, and the company has a proven track record of producing top-notch games that people love. Just a few of Genera’s other featured apps include Frozen: Freefall, Run Forrest Run, and Death Race: The Game.

As it was optimized for iPhone 6, Ramboat looks stunning on that 4.7-inch display and it was fun to jump, dive, and dodge obstacles, and kill the enemy while collecting power ups and coins. Currently, Ramboat includes 8 characters, 10 fun vehicles and 10 weapons to choose from.

Ramboat for iOS was updated to version 2.3.1 on July 1 to add two new patriotic crew members, so now gamers will be able to race with Uncle Sam and Elvis through a new level full of the greatest American landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and the Capitol Building.

But there is more: Inspired by their success on iOS, Genera Games tell me that the Android version of Ramboat will be available today. By the way, have you flown down whitewater rapids on a hippopotamus?

Ramboat is available as a free download from the App Store and Google Play. As with every freemium app, the game offers in-app purchases ranging from $1.99 to $9.99. Happy Gaming!
