With the emergence of services like Google Offers and Groupon, businesses big, small, and in between are utilizing digital coupons and offers to increase their sales. Tim Rothwell and Brett Berman, cofounders of UMeTime, observed an overlooked gap in this industry trend. How can business owners use couponing services to acquire new customers and increase business at specific times, in real-time – when they need them? UMeTime is a real-time, mobile marketing platform that meets this need.
Let’s face it. With even the most successful business, there are always slow times or days, and there is always extra inventory. UMeTime allows businesses to utilize controlled coupons and offers to acquire new customers during down, or slow, hours and sell extra inventory. The deals and offers can only be redeemed and used in physical store locations.
Users can search through UMeTime’s coupon database by category, and filter results by distance, most recent, and time remaining. Instead of the traditional method of coupons and offers being sent out to email lists, UMeTime allows deals to be sought out by consumers who are interested, and more likely to retrieve the offer and purchase. Users can also follow businesses through UMeTime to get alerts of their future deals.
Businesses can completely control the timeframe, quantity, and details of the offers. If you own a restaurant and Tuesday’s lunch hours are slow, you can create 10 coupons for a free appetizer per table with the purchase of an entree on Tuesdays between 12:00pm and 2:00pm, that expire in two weeks. All facets of the offer are customizable; UMeTime allows businesses to create as specific of an offer as they want. Businesses can even control their company description, photos, and videos on UMeTime.
When users print out or retrieve offers, UMeTime secures that data for businesses to access and export into an Excel sheet. This will allow businesses to better tailor their offers by analysing the number of views, printouts, and purchases made through UMeTime.
The only downside to UMeTime is that it only covers Austin, Texas. However, as UMeTime grows, it most likely will encompass more areas.
UMeTime was a showcased startup at our Tech Cocktail Austin mixer.
