Not too long ago, my parents celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary, and held a masquerade ball for friends and family. Leading up to the event, I wanted to put a slideshow together of photos of friends and family that told the story of their love.
I will never forget showing my mum (yes, I am Australian) the slideshow. It was something simple, put together on iPhoto to the music that comes with the software. It brought her to tears: she was so happy with such a simple thing, because of course the real power is in the memories.
Now, if I had the ability to easily share that slideshow with all the people that loved it on that evening…then I would have something truly special.
Enter startup ReelGenie, which takes this even one step further and allows you to create personalized movies. Just add photos and videos of your family, then pick music or a voiceover to give it a professional touch. It’s an innovation in family history storytelling.
It is the natural progression from static photo albums to creating something engaging, something worthy of the wonderful memories we choose to share. It is a way to have all those precious moments held in one location without being scattered across the web, multiple social networks, or shoeboxes at your home. Bringing to life those moments in an entertaining and heartfelt story, rather than an online version of a photo album.
ReelGenie was a showcased startup at our Tech Cocktail SXSW mixer.
