Being a founder of a startup can be a very isolating job and it could feel that you’re on a deserted island. What founders need to realize that they need to get out of their routine, go to events or meetups and talk with other founders at their level, or the next level, to discuss the issues they are facing and find solutions.

“It’s difficult to build anything great in isolation,” said Rodney Sampson, chairman of Opportunity Hub and partner at Tech Square Labs.

Meaning, founders have to break out of their routine and go talk with people who have been there done that and could help you find solutions or guide you in the right direction

“..from startup to scale, there is someone that can give you insight and intelligence – it’s not necessarily the people on the stage (at events), it could be someone you meet at the table,” Sampson said.

In this interview by Maine Startup & Create Week (MSCW), a week-long (June 19-23) celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit and highlighting local companies and startups in Portland, he is encouraging startups, advisors, investors, etc., to come out and meet each other at the event.
