Roundme is an amazing iOS app that has recently been under the spotlight. This app is very simple to use and with a great and clean design that lets users create, share, and explore “Spaces” – sets of panoramic images connected with each other. These “Spaces” are connected to “Portals”, which makes navigation much more easier.
In order to understand how Roundme works, let’s think of an example. A certain user goes to Madam Tussauds museum and takes a panoramic photo somewhere in it. He would then go the app, find the Madam Tussauds musem Portal and upload his photo to it, making it freely available for everyone to see. Most of the pictures found on Round.me are taken by professionals, therefore guaranteeing a high quality standard.
Not very long after the last announcement of the inclusion of a Virtual Reality mode, some important changes were announced in a presentation during IVRPA Prague 2015, which will improve the overall quality of the app. The change with a higher impact is the introduction of Pro accounts, expected are likely to be implemented in the next Fall, according to the team behind Roundme.
It goes without saying that the subscription of those Pro accounts comes with several benefits. For example, the ability to upload heavier files, with the limit raised to 100MB, support for multiple resolutions, cloud storage, which can host user files in a safe and secure way, detailed visitor statistics, and others.
Other improvements have to do with “Spaces”: it will be possible to edit their appearance, “Advanced Hotspots”, which allow visitors to directly book hotels or restaurants nearby the “Space”, as well as the ability to define the privacy settings for each “Space”. All these improvements affect one single “Space” and are paid one-time only.
In the announcement, Roundme’s team mentioned yet another great feature: the ability for users to be hired from within the app. Users looking for freelance jobs can announce so in their profiles and, if visitors like their work, they can hire photographers without having to leave Roundme.
