How Salary Negotiations Happen in Tech [Infographic]

When it comes to the workforce, equal payment in the workforce is a reoccurring issue. And even in tech, where wage gap disparities are even greater by gender than the rest of the work industry, it can be challenging to figure out where the value should be on your work.

According to Comparably, salary negotiations do have a role in tech – it just varies depending on department and gender.

After surveying nearly 5,000 employees, it was found that “employees between the ages of 18 and 25 were least likely to negotiate their salary compared to those between the ages of 41 and 45. Out of the key job functions surveyed, men in administrative roles were least likely to negotiate while women working in Product were most likely to do so. Furthermore, employees were more likely to negotiate with higher experience.”
