I first read about Pinterest on a design blog this spring. It sounded cool, but I was like, “Ugh, just another cool thing that will make my life more complicated.” Then I tried it out. It’s addicting. And very cool.
In case you are not familiar with Pinterest, it’s basically an online pinboard for things that you find on the web that you love and want to save. You can use it to plan your wedding, gather design inspiration for your home, save favorite new outfits from designers’ collections, or collect and organize recipes. Really, anything you can think of.
When I got started, I just browsed pinboards created by other people based on what they said were their favorite things. But adding stuff you find while surfing the web is easy. When you open your account, you are asked to add a “Pin It” button to your web browser so you can pin stuff as you stumble upon it.
To get started, you have to request an invite. It only took a few hours for my request to get approved, so you can get pinning quickly. Have fun! You might just have found your new addiction!
